Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

The Funky Art Teacher is operated by Mariaan Luyt (the "responsible party") in South Africa. We process personal information in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) and, for learners in Europe and the UK, the GDPR.

2. What we collect

Account details: your name, email address, language preference and, if you choose, marketing consent.

Learning data: the pictures and paintings you upload, your painting projects and stages, checklist ticks, Coach Mariaan reviews, Gallery folders and artworks.

Purchase data: credit balance, purchases and lessons unlocked. Card details are handled by the payment provider and never stored by us.

Technical data: basic device and usage information needed to keep the platform secure and working.

3. How we use it

To create your account, deliver lessons, save your progress, run Coach Mariaan reviews, keep track of credits and send receipts and account emails.

To send news and offers only if you agreed; you can unsubscribe at any time.

To improve the platform and prevent misuse.

4. AI processing

When you ask Coach Mariaan for a review or colour mix, your image and question are sent to our AI provider to generate the answer. They are used only to answer your request and not to sell or advertise to you.

5. Sharing

We never sell or rent your personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us run the platform (secure cloud hosting, AI processing and payments), under agreements that protect your information, or when the law requires it.

Some providers may store information outside South Africa; we only use providers with adequate protection as required by POPIA.

6. Security and storage

Your data is kept in secured cloud storage. Your projects, uploads and Gallery are private to your account. We keep your information while your account is active and delete it within a reasonable time after you ask us to close your account, except records we must keep by law (such as invoices).

7. Your rights

You may ask to see, correct, download or delete your personal information, object to processing, and withdraw marketing consent. You may also lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa (inforegulator.org.za) or your local data authority.

8. Cookies

We use only essential browser storage to keep you signed in and remember your language and lesson position. We do not use advertising cookies.
